Review of Morning Glory (2010) by Felis D — 30 Jul 2011
A well-acted, charismatic, and cute film that is supported VERY strongly by it's stellar cast, and incredibly smart writing. TV producer Becky Fuller is the best their is at the business of showbiz, but since her television company is making cuts all over the place, they have no choice but to "let her go".
Becky soon finds a new job at "Daybreak", a morning news show that is suffering from the lack of a second anchor. Becky soon finds that second anchor in television veteran Mike Pomeroy, who is least to say, not so thrilled to be back in the anchor's chair.
The actors play their parts faithfully and memorably. McAdams is cute, Keaton is spirited, but the man I am most impressed by is Harrison Ford's crass, mean, sullen figure. It can be argued that he carried the picture.
The film lacks realism, and I must admit, is not your first choice if you are looking for insight on the television industry. But overall, a fun, enjoyable, and entertaining comedy-drama that is as funny and humorous as it is cute and emotionally touching.
Thumbs up.
