Review of Morning Glory (2010) by Kenneth L — 17 Dec 2011
I've seen this twice, and I liked it both times. Although I think it's probably a misnomer to call it a "Romantic Comedy." There's about 15% romantic comedy stuff in it and the rest is about what turns out to be the fascinating world of TV morning news.
I also think the sum of this movie is greater than it's parts. McAdams is not especially attractive or even likable as she's so obsessed with her job. Ford is mostly not believable as a cranky, old school newscaster. But in the end, I really liked the movie. Diane Keaton is a bright spot as the Overconfident (but really under-confident) female anchor, and John Pankow does a nice job as McAdams' hang dog Exec producer partner.
