Review of Morning Glory (2010) by Brian D — 10 May 2012
One of countless attempts to relive the magic that was The Devil Wears Prada, Morning Glory has a young, relatable heroine, unsteadily getting up on her own two feet in the Big Apple. This time itâ(TM)s in the world of morning TV show production, where hard news stories about government corruption air uneasily beside cooking segments.
Rachel McAdams is great as the young TV producer given an opportunity to prove herself as a producer of a troubled, lower ranking morning show with dotty anchors and staff. The film fully exploits its TV production setting for laughs and insights alike and while the romantic comedy formula elements are nearly all here this is nonetheless a very polished and entertaining example of the genre.
