Review of Moonwalker (1988) by Kendall I — 18 Sep 2012
I love Michael Jackson, but I really hate this film. It's too weird and too stupid. I can see why this got a straight to video release. The first 20 minutes is just footage of Michael Jackson's career, then it's a spoof on Bad reenacted by children, then a stupid scene where Michael is chased by stop motion characters, then the video for "Leave me Alone" then the actual "story" happens.
The whole plot for that segment is that the villain Mr Big wants to give drugs to children for no reason at all. Michael is the only person who can stop him with the help of a magic star. Did I mention Michael wrote the story to this segment? Michael, you were a great, singer and dancer but writing stories was not your thing.
Some people might like it because they think it's so bad, it's good. Well, apart from the Sooth Criminal number, some nice stop motion animation and good special effects (although the blue screen shots are terrible), the movie is just trash.
Rent "This is it" instead.
