Review of Moontrap (1989) by Andrew R — 27 Jul 2007
A nice piece of low-budget sci-fi crap from the eighties, starring that master actor of low-budget, sci-fi crap...Bruce Campbell. A small robotic device from outer space is brought back to earth, and proceeds to morph into a giant cyborg kiling machine using test-tubes and flappy bits of skin.
The object is determined to have arrived from the moon, and so a team of astronauts are sent to investigate. They discover the obligitory ancient citadel infested with alien killing machines, and the plot weaves the familiar path towards a 'we all saw that coming ending.
Camp acting, bad dialougue and dated special effects somehow fail to completely ruin this movie. It keeps one hand precariously gripped around cult-movie status.
