Review of Moonrise Kingdom (2012) by Andrew M — 13 Jan 2014
A feel good, warm, whimsical tale of young love & adventure with beautifully 1960's visual aesthetics. It's silly, ridiculous yet so warm & endearing as social outcast & orphaned Khaki Scout Sam falls for the equally outcast & troubled Susie.
The tale has the pair make a pact to flee together against all practical considerations - They are both only 12 years old, have no money & are living on the tiny St Penzance Island. Various misadventures follow as a huge storm approaches the island & they are trailed by the local police captain, parents & scout troop.
Fantastically acted with a whole host of big name actors & quirky but totally apt soundtrack throughout the movie. Overall a real feel good movie.
