Review of Moonraker (1979) by Ian G — 25 Dec 2008
A mixed bag of a film, great environments that rival the best of the series including sequences in Venice that eerily match those in Casino Royale. First exposure to Moore as Bond, and find him a bit of a bore as Bond.
He suits the locales at least in this edition but lacks chemistry with the Bond girls and I don't buy his fighting skills in the action sequences. Also the camp value in this film seemed amped (the gondola turned motor boat turned car, the romance between pippi longstocking and Jaws along with Jaws recurring return from peril after peril).
Decent premise for a film but not executed as well as could be.
