Review of Moonraker (1979) by Jordan S — 14 Dec 2012
I am a huge Bond fan, and I truly love each movie for what each one is. That said when I rate Bond movies, I rate them against themselves and not the entire Hollywood movie population.
Moonraker is a solid entry in Roger Moore's collection of Bond films. Granted this one is way over the top and has a more comedic feel than a serious one, it's still an entertaining 007 adventure. The action scenes are well choreographed and shot. Particularly the fight between Bond and Drax's first henchmen in the museum. I felt that the acting in this movie was a bit over the top by most of the cast, but that is how the whole movie feels in general. One exception is Michael Lonsdale who does a great job in playing the main antagonist Hugo Drax. We also get to see the famous henchman Jaws in his second go around. I love the character of Jaws, but could have personally done without the romantic interest side story they gave him in the film. Final thoughts: Moonraker is a sillier yet entertaining (it's James Bond in space for goodness sakes) entry for Sir Roger Moore. If your looking for some out of this world (pardon the pun) action with that 007 flare, take in a viewing of Moonraker..
