Review of Moonlight Mile (2002) by Brian H — 14 Jun 2009
Jake Gyllenhaal, Dustin Hoffman, Ellen Pompeo, and Susan Sarandon all gave outstanding perfomances in this drama which is an uplifting story of endearing honesty and humor. It seems that Joe Nast's fiance was killed shortly before their "supposed" marriage was to take place - while the girl's parents (played by Hoffman and Sarandon) were unaware of the breaking of engagement.
When another woman unexpectedly enters the picture, Gyllenhaal's character is torn between his new roles and following his heart. Favorite (powerful) scene: When Nixon's (the dog) bowl is being filled by Joe with his favorite dog food - and of course three spoons of Pepto Bismol for indigestion - Joe decides the third spoonful of the pink liquid should be for himself.
It was a great realization that it was time for his life to be so indigestible. Loved the scene!
