Review of Moonlight (2016) by Zanda B — 02 Mar 2017
The first half is very moving and well done. The characters are rich and the direction of the film had purpose. You really want to see where the rest goes from there. Then it does go from there... into a strange coming of age film that turns into a bizarre, gay love story.
The first half clips right along and you can't wait to see more. The second half drags at at a pace that makes you wish it would just end. There are no likable characters... no one to get behind or root for, and no one you would love to hate.
It's hard to like a film without a redeeming person in it, except for the boy in the first part of the movie.
