The movie has some excellent, emotional performances, However, subtitles would have helped because I had a really hard time understanding many of the conversations. The film is definitely NOT in the "makes you feel good" category.
However, you have to admire Chiron for surviving and reaching adulthood when you see the environment he grows up in. I can't imagine how people can cope with the situations depicted in the movie, day after day after day.
