Review of Moonlight (2016) by Elio G — 11 Mar 2017

A simple film done well. Overall performances were good by most of the cast with a couple of strong scenes but I was only surprised and impressed by the cinematography and how the scenes were lit. Fairly smple but the mix of colours from the various artificial lighting, mixing the bright fluorescents and LED with warm incandescent was balanced very beautifully in many of the dark scenes.

I don't believe this is a Oscar winning worthy film though, but it is very good for what it is, a simple low budget indie art house film.
