Review of Moonlight (2016) by Dalton V — 04 Nov 2017
While no doubt a revolutionary film in terms of subject matter, and I applaud the film for being a first to substantively tackle minorities within the LGBT community, Moonlight, though well acted particularly thanks to Marshala Ali, is a poorly plotted, character driven film that doesn't offer complexity in a character study beyond sadness to satisfy a viewers nourishment.
A film that will be lauded by most based purely on subject matter, but not scrutinized for its ability to be a better film.
