The soft yet searing humanism Jenkins invokes through his minimalist storytelling and mesmerizingly meditative style make the occasional slips into self indulgence more than forgivable. Moonlight is as personal as it is universal, as hopeful as it is heartbreaking, consistantly genuine, and never gratuitous.
