Going into this movie, I'd expected a good character-based drama and it definitely was that. I hadn't been anticipating how beautifully directed and shot it would be. Barry Jenkins' direction and James Laxton's cinematography is something really special here.
There's such poetry and artistry in this movie in its performances, its script, and the visuals. It was a beautiful movie and one of the best I've seen all year.
