As a piece of cinema it's breathtakingly accomplished. As a piece of social commentary it's soul bearing. As a piece of writing it's near perfection. All together you have not just a beautiful work of art but an important one, one that is almost essential viewing in life.
This is a proud black film and rightfully so.
