This treats as people characters whose stories have more often been reduced to preconceptions, and attempts to crumble monolithic archetypes into a life lived. The success of this endeavour is apparent, this is a beautifully constructed character study that drifts through time so that it can hold onto a single thread of its protagonist's experience relentlessly, forcing us to see the ripples of circumstance play out across various presents.
