Review of Moonlight (2016) by Jeje W — 01 Mar 2017
Moonlight is the best film of the year. This is cinematic gold right here. There is nothing wrong with this movie and I am certain that this will go down as being one of the greatest films ever made. First of all, the editing was amazing.
That was some of the best editing I've ever seen in my life. Each performance in this movie is absolutely flawless. It is some of the most convincing performances I've had the pleasure of watching.
The screenplay was based on the play which was based on the writer and, wow, that is one powerful story. You can truly feel Chiron's struggle about finding who he is deep down and how it is hard for him to accept that.
The soundtrack was eerie and disturbing when it had to be and other times it was a little more light-hearted, but for the most part, the music plays along with the tone of the movie which is very depressing.
I LOVED Moonlight and I did think it deserved Best Picture. I have no doubt in my mind when I say that Moonlight gets a 10/10.
