Review of Moonlight (2016) by Star L — 17 Feb 2017
Once again, for my lovely peeps who want to know my humbly arrogant opinion, and my very messy thoughts of nonsense.
--Who do we grow up to become?
The people who we admire or those who we despise?
Life is full of surprises, hiding in every corner, sneaking up on us, might not be as glorious as we like, but the details are always unexpected. Even for the little people, in fact especially for the little people. The one old lady passing by you on the street; the one man staring at traffic light sitting in the car next to you. who are they, what's their story? They might have the most touching life story you would ever have known, but that's the beauty of it, you'll never know.
When we dig into our souls, under the mask, what's the true face of that tinder heart. What do you really care about?
Some times we get influenced by the people or things around us which we don't realize.
Look back at the past years of our lives. I can't speak for anyone else; but for me, the moments I try to make memorable are often not the days I remember the most, in fact its quite the opposite, its that average day, that non remarkable second.
I still remember sitting in the cornfield watching sun setting into the gap of some houses when I was 7. I remember feeling the breeze touching my face on that strangely warm afternoon 6 years ago in Seattle. I remember the way a guy looked at me for a millisecond that one cold night a month ago.
The most beautiful moments in life are the one you can't quite describe, how you felt the way you felt is entirely based on who you are, and who you have been. Those are the moments that shape us into who we are, yet those are the ones that we can't pass on. I guess that's what make us most unique as individuals.
Although, under the same moonlight, aren't we all "Blue"?
--The film.
As you can probably tell, what I talk about often have very little to do with the film which I was suppose to comment on. Usually just some random thoughts I had.
There's a lot to talk about the story, but let's not. The film did a good job telling us that story so I'll leave that to you.
The director/writer beautifully described just those little details that make a day memorable. Which brought the film closer to its audiences. Although I believe the writing on transitions could've been much better. The details were so focused and well polished that middle parts almost got laid out flat, or even just cheesy.
Overall I believe it is a film worth watching. Soundtrack is also very calming.
Its not the best movie I've seen recently, there are a lot of things that could've been better, although my judging standard on films is unreasonably high, so don't trust me on that.
But hey, who's got the time to read a long post filled with nonsense like this all the way through?
So good night??
