Review of Moon (2009) by Andrew C — 26 May 2012
I liked this movie a lot. So far I always enjoy Sam Rockwell's performances. It felt like it was more a movie about the humanity and morals then anything else. What makes up a human being? How much ownership do we have over our bodies and memories? Where is the line on profiting from them? Where do our rights and morals begin and end?
The concept of the movie isn't a completely new new one, but the execution was well done. I do enjoy Sam Rockwell, and I think he did an excellent job in this movie. I liked the technology/space structures/vehicles in this movie too, although not a big element in the movie itself, I just think they looked good and had that feel of this is what an early mining operation on another plant would probably be like.
This is not an action movie, and although I have seen it labeled as Mystery/Suspense I wouldn't classify it in either of those. You learn very early on what is going on up on the moon and if you have seen any of the previews you have already removed the "mystery" I'm not going to say it just in case you don't watch previews, but within the first like 20 minutes or so the mystery part is over.
