Review of Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) by David B — 23 Mar 2013
This is a massive step from the insane TV series. What you have here is a wacky funny film with a beloved British cast. The budget is low but the comedy is gold. There's something about feature films that brings out the best in the Pythons.
The occasional indulgence of the TV series is replaced by a more focused approach which wrings every conceivable joke out of a given subject. Insane cool characters and great excuse for a plot and they kept in their weird animation.
The film can be crude but it has so many famous amazingly funny scenes, it works so well. Each scene is gold and performed dead-panly. As insane as the film is you couldn't possibly change it. It's a British classic this could've been the best comedy film.
..if it wasn't for The Life of Brian. Classic and rightly so.
