Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of those rare comedies whose influence on the genre has been huge, yet there has never been another film quite like it. The film is simply the definition of great comedy: all Python members are at the top of their games, the running time of 90 minutes makes it extremely sharp and efficient, and it richly uses various forms of comedy, from surreal absurdity to slapstick and from satire to running gags.

The laughs are endless and unstoppable, from the uproarious opening credits to the abrupt and incredibly silly ending. The poor production values and cheap look only make the film funnier; it is widely known the budget was so low the actors couldn't ride real horses, and the ending was supposed to be entirely different, but there was not enough time and money to execute it.

Along with The Big Lebowski, The Holy Grail is the all-time comedy classic, one of the greatest films of all time, and a film that is always equally funny, whether you're watching it drunk, sober, alone or in company.
