Has anyone seen episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus? It shocks me that Holy Grail has so much focus in its avant-garde style of humour and storytelling. Quotability is necessary to sealing a comedy film's place in cultural history, and this is no exception: the Knights Who Say Ni, the holy hand grenade used against a monstrous rabbit, the Black Knight ("It's only a flesh wound"), "Bring out your dead.

" I could probably list all of them. Yet the strangeness of the original sketch show carries over with ease. My favourite "subtle" joke is when a scene with Sir Gallahad and a nurse drags for too long, so unrelated characters interrupt the scene to say, "Get on with it.

" Some of these characters weren't even introduced. I have yet to see and enjoy better shattering of the cinematic realm. You don't need to be a medieval fantasy fanatic to appreciate Holy Grail as a parody.

You don't need to have seen Flying Circus to appreciate the Dadaist comedy of the six-man troupe Monty Python. Watch Holy Grail at least once, and it should become very clear why this is raved as one of the funniest movies of all time.
