Review of Monsters vs Aliens (2009) by Lydia S — 13 May 2011
The only reason to bother: Hugh Laurie. He's absolutely brilliant as a mad scientist. Otherwise, the story is a typical "monster" story (becoming a different being without meaning to, denial, attempting to keep your old life, finding a new identitiy in your new self and eventually owning it).
Which other than being predictable, also had the problem of being rather over the heads of the target audience, hence the addition of crude jokes to try and keep the kids laughing. It didn't work Dreamworks.
