Review of Monsters, Inc. (2001) by Matt W — 27 Oct 2014
Monsters Inc. became a beloved movie to the children of my generation and the many generations after. Disney really hit the nail on the head with this movie. But what makes this movie so great is debatable between the plot, the development of the characters, and the soundtrack.
Monsters Inc. gave a plot to its audience that helped children sleep soundly at night. The plot of Monsters Inc. shows two friends who are presented with a problem that not only gives them a new friend but tests their own friendship. The movie allows a new point of veiw and shows us that a monster world isn't much different than our own.
Disney has always been able to make relatable characters, but with Sully and Mike, the two leading roles of Monsters Inc., even the adults could relate. Sully and Mike were the two best friends and co-workers, figuring out their daily problems one step at a time. Sully the alpha of the pair, fluffy and warm hearted, and Mike the managing under dog who always forgets to turn in his paper work. These two become loved for bravery and heroism.
I believe that one of the most important thing to any film is its soundtrack, with the right music a film can jerk tears. From the jazzy theme song that brings smiles to people everywhere when heard to the motivational music playing as Sully flys through doors carrying Boo. The theme song to Monsters Inc. is recognized as a happy tune and that really reflects the movie itself.
