Review of Monster's Ball (2001) by Kim B — 27 Feb 2011
Very gritty film with themes of race, death, redemption and family ties covered. Set in a beautiful old Southern town, the lives of the character's seem to contrast the scenery. Good performances all around, I was shocked that the guy from Everyone Loves Ramona was in this because he plays such a different character with a solid performance.
I like the directing and editing style. Now I can see I've seen the infamous sex scene, which wasn't nearly as sexy as everyone says because Thornton is in it.
