Review of Monster's Ball (2001) by Jeff D — 07 Jan 2012
Director Marc Forster has made a quiet and confident film in Monster's Ball. The movie handles the story of death row inmate and his prison handlers with delicacy and avoids melodrama. Monster's Ball could have been preachy, but instead opts for an intimate character study.
The drama is heightened by the expert performances from Billy Bob Thornton and Halle Berry.
