Review of Monster's Ball (2001) by James H — 01 Jun 2012
Marc Forster is terrific with drama and he directs this one very well. The story has a concept that we've seen a lot, but we've never seen it with this kind of story. I love the characters. They've all got a sense of sorrow and innocence that makes you feel sorry for them.
The acting was the best part. halle Berry is decent to bad - she was a bit over the top at times. heath Ledger plays the son very well and he's got such charisma. Billy Bob Thornton won it for me as Hank.
I did find the ending a bit wierd and I didn't really understand it, but the rest of the movie is top-notch and it's definitely a must see!
