Review of Monsters (2010) by David P — 31 Jul 2011
It draws little fractions of inspiration from movies like D-9, 28 days later and Cloverfield but for the major part highly original. Considering it's meager budget, it's a tremendous achievement in terms of production design and planning.
It also features very charming and likable performances from it's leads where the sci-fi and action genres take a back seat. It has moments of maturity and amateurism where the climax highlights the latter as it exposes it's cheap CGI which until then was dealt intelligently.
Final word is, this is not for action junkies or hardcore sci-fi fans; Lower your expectations there's no reason why anyone can't enjoy this.
