Oh geeze I did it again, I wasted 96 minutes of my life watching this movie. So I will write this review in hopes of saving you of doing such error. Lets begin- this is a science fiction movie, I like scifi, so thats why ended watching it.

The premise of the movie is somewhat appealing when you first read about. But make no mistake about it, the only thing interesting here are the reviews that you read on the box of the dvd. The plot begins when american astronaunts send a space shuttle to mars to collect findings from the planet.

On the way back the space shuttle harboring all these findings crashes and explodes along the atmosphere thereby causing debris and the mars findings to land on a certain region of mexico, which fastforward a few years eventually becomes infested with alien lifeforms from mars.

The lifeforms eventually take habitat and become giant octopus-like creatures with tenticles similar to the ones we see in War of the Worlds (2003) with Tom Cruise. Except they dont seem to be vicious.

Instead I got the impression they were just wild animals roaming in their natural environment. The two main characters are these two american tourists, one guy & one gal. The conflict then remains in that these 2 must get home to america, crossing safely across mexico beyond a land that designated as "infected" by these alien lifeforms.

We never really see these two characters face any immediate danger or faceoff with the aliens. Instead we mostly hear the two talk and talk and talk and did I mention they talk ? The setup is initially inteteresting, however the setup is all I got.

Eventually- Spoiler Alert !!!!!! Up ahead: there really is no resolution. The end is pretty disappointing because all we have at the end is two americans that get to know each other and they hook up. The effects if you can spot any, are very minimum if not scarce or aptly done by photoshop.

This movie is depressing and I cant imagine why they would use mexico as a backdrop. Its almost an insult to this country to be featured this way. In the end stay away from this one and may I reccomend Peter Jackson's "District 9".

It features a similar plot but the story somehow takes you somewhere with its plot and colorful characters.
