A magnificent debut for Gareth Edwards who takes the familiar road-movie on a huge detour against a backdrop of a brilliantly realised commentary on immigration. Monsters has superb casting in the two leads whose romance is, rightly, key to this piece working.
The Monsters themselves never overstay their welcome as a representation of something altogether much more sinister.
