Review of Monsters (2010) by Kyle L — 30 May 2013

Monsters is one of the most surprising films I've ever watched and its so good and completely beautiful at the same time. This movie is about a US journalist who agrees to find his boss' daughter and escort her safely to the US border and as the two begin a journey they explore the world of the infected zone and they also encounter the monsters on the way and the two also develop romantic feelings for each other where the two are falling in love with each other at the same time.

I love this movie and it is so surprising and very beautiful at the same time and its not actually a Horror film but more of a Science Fiction Monster movie with lots of themes of survival and romance and I totally love the way director Gareth Edwards handled this movie.

What's great about Monsters is that the movie has a lot of beautiful locations and shots of the infected zone and other areas like the forest is so fantastic and I love the way the settings were well used and it gives the movie a beautiful feel.

What I also like about Monsters is that the movie is also well paced and the pacing of the movie is fantastic. The first half of the film is a Monster Horror film. Then the second half change into a drama Science Fiction Movie then the last half of the film acts as a romance movie and I love how the movie managed to have different styles on the pace of the movie thanks to the script of Gareth Edwards the movie is very good.

While the last things I like about this movie is that the whole film is also full of beautiful and stunning CGI effects and the effects look so CGI in style and I heard Gareth Edwards designed the monsters himself for a couple of months using Adobe and other softwares and the CGI was so beautiful and stunning in this movie and I think this has the best CGI effects since 2012's Prometheus.

And I love the monsters in this film they look so fantastic on the design and quite freaky at the exact same time and I love the overall effects of this film a lot. Now the acting is fantastic. The two main leads did a fantastic job with their work in the film a lot.

Scoot McNairy did an excellent job with his work on the movie as the US journalist. Whitney Able did a fantastic job with her work in the movie as the US journalist's boss and she looks so gorgeous in this movie and I totally fell in love with her and she's one of the prettiest actress since Jane Levy from the Evil Dead reboot and Whitney Able looks very pretty and attractive at the exact same time and I love her performance in this movie a lot and the two main leads did a good job overall with their performances in the film a lot.

Director and Writer Gareth Edwards did a magnificent job with his work on this movie a lot and I love how he handled the CGI in this film and he should work on the CGI in the Godzilla reboot he's directing because he handled the CGI in this movie really well so I hope he handles the CGI in the Godzilla reboot again in a good way.

Overall Monsters gets a 10/10 because this is one of the most worth watching Science Fiction Monster movies ever made. Please bring in the sequel Monsters: Dark Continent.
