Review of Monsters (2010) by Keenan S — 09 Oct 2014
Amazing movie. One that no matter how hard you try you just can't fit it into a genre. Sci-fi? Drama? Who knows!
A film that throws you straight into a world where 'monsters' now infest certain parts, but it still feels scarily like the world we're in now, even to an extent that at some points it feels like a documentary. It covers issues like immigration and, although this seems broad, humanity in general. These themes delivered in such a great way that it feels so personal, done by the superb acting and directing. It's got an overall strange and brilliant tone, the best way to describe it would be 'significantly insignificant' if that makes sense...
Like any film, it has it's flaws, but overall a mesmerising movie, one that I can see changing the way monster movies are made in the future.
