Review of Monsieur Verdoux (1947) by Mike H — 23 Aug 2007
With this film, Chaplin invented dark comedy. However, Chaplin gives preaching precedense over storytelling in Monsier Verdoux, making the film a little slow, redundant, and choppy. It is still a solid Chaplin film, though, and should not be passed over.
