Review of Monsieur Lazhar (2011) by Mohamed F — 21 Oct 2012
As much as I hate the "new teacher vs students" setting that has been done to death, this one had a pretty distinct theme behind it, which makes it more like 'Half Nelson' than 'Dead Poets Society'.
The script has been pretty god, but the love interest subplot was just SO out of context and it should've been cut out of the final movie, it just dragged it a bit, and it reminded me so much of a French movie called "The Hedgehog", which had a similar useless subplot that actually killed the movie.
