Review of Monsieur Ibrahim (2003) by Nirmala R — 02 Jun 2007
I love love this movie.. momo is a jewish boy ignored most of the time by his father who emphasizes on a daily basis that he prefers his other (dead) son.. without motherly love he secretly desires, momo then seeks 'womanly' love from the nice lady prostitutes who offer their merchandises a few feet from where he lives (he uses the grocery money his dad gave him to pay and chose to pinch from the local grocery store run by monsieur ibrahim for food).. after a while, the two opposite individuals (monsieur ibrahim is a moslem, interesting isnt it) developed an unlikely friendship in which monsieur ibrahim took momo under his wings and taught him the values of life and also to appreciate them..
Very heartfelt without pushing the line of being too sappy..
