Review of Monsieur Hulot's Holiday (1953) by Dean S — 22 Sep 2007
You could argue that the French have their collective tête up their collective derrière where Jerry Lewis is concerned (I wouldn't, but you could). There is, however, no question they were right about the genius of Jacques Tati -- who, in a perfect world, would have a place in the comedic pantheon seated between Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.
Yes, this is a 54-year old black and white French comedy with no dialogue to speak of. And I defy you to sit through it with a straight face.
