Monolith tries to be so many things, but fails so much simply because of really bad pseudo-macho on-edge 80's dialog. Despite this movie being from the 90's, doesn't help at all.
However, the concept is really good. An alien is awakened, and it possesses bodies and a government agency is trying to keep it contained to gain its technological secrets. Of course it all goes wrong.
The acting is so over-the-top bad. I feel like it is trying to be 'They Live', but fails an every count.
John Hurt is quite good through most of the movie, but at the end just falls apart.
