Review of Monkey Trouble (1994) by Antonio Z — 31 Oct 2007
We've all been there - you want a monkey, but your parents have laid down the law: no pets! After reading the novelization, I was already pumped about seeing this, and Franco Amurri doesn't disappoint with his most delicate and tantalizing piece of filmmaking yet. The characters were well-rounded and believable - after an hour, I stopped thinking of the parents as evil and began to understand their point of view. Of course, the real hero (or should I say hero-INE?) is Amy, whose Monkey Trouble is hilarious and engrossing enough to rate this movie a solid five stars.
A bonus is that Thora Birch went on to become a total hottie and star in Dungeons and Dragons, which narrowly beats out Kangaroo Jack as the best movie of the new millenium. You can also see her boobs in American Beauty, giving that otherwise lifeless piece of tripe an automatic two stars.
