Review of Monkey Shines (1988) by Alan G — 08 Feb 2009

I liked the idea. The insight into the world of monkeys trained to assist the disabled was nothing short of fascinating. But as the movie went on, it failed to even attempt to explain one of the most important plot elements: How would a chemical injection to a monkey link it's mind together with an everyday human? Yes yes yes, they become mentally connected and the monkey starts acting out all of the guy's deep inner evil desires - whether he wants it to or not - but all of that just from the monkey getting injected with some sort of experimental drug? It makes WAY too little sense for my taste.
