Review of Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007) by James B — 31 Jan 2009
Pretty good. Some awesome cinematography. Although, it felt cramped somehow, I don't know how you make a movie literally shot out on the open plains seem cramped, but the whole time it seemed like everything was happening over an area of just a few square miles.
Strange. Anyway, really well done, and thankfully much less of a bloodbath then I was expecting. His wife: badass. Definitely a "pro" Genghis Khan movie. Although I'm not sure how relevant the mongol hordes are in modern current events.
.. Anyway, altogether very well done, a trilogy that I (perhaps) can get behind. Tired of all the lord of the rings crap, and even Zhang Yimou.
