Review of Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007) by Vamsi K — 06 Mar 2010
[Oscar Nominee, Best Foreign Language Film] This movie is the first part of a planned trilogy on Genghis Khan. Tadanobu Asano is perfect as Genghis Khan. The war sequences are beautiful, and the shots of the Mongolian steppe are breathtaking, but the underlying plot is a little boring.
It lacks the narrative flow of many of the great gory war movies like 300. That said, I'm looking forward to the release of The Great Khan this year, which will be Part 2 of the trilogy. [Language: Mongolian].
