Review of Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007) by Sitenoise ! — 16 Jan 2011
I don't really care how "sumptuous" fight scenes are. I usually skip through them because they're stupid. When you take them out of the equation I'm not sure you can call this one an epic.
Tadanobu Asano does well as Khan but he may have put his acting stamp on the historical Khan who might not have been so cool, calm, and collected. Honglei Sun, as Khan's friend/blood brother/enemy steals the show.
Great character. And Khulan Chuluun, one of a few Mongolians in the film, is enchanting in a limited role as Khan's wife. A true Mongolian beauty.
