Review of Moneyball (2011) by Peter F — 28 Nov 2012
Moneyball is a hit! Brad Pitt is in top form as he plays Oakland A's manager, Billy Beane with depth, emotion, and wit. He is an actor that keeps getting better with time. Jonah Hill, an actor known for starring in R-rated sex comedies is also excellent here as Peter Brand.
He brings an innocent and soft touch to the film. Pitt and Hill's scenes together are dynamite. Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin's script is also phenomenal and a large reason why the film works.
It is witty and touching, while never getting sappy. Bennet Miller's direction is once again great as he keeps a tight pace and reign over the material. Overall, whether you are a baseball fan or not, go see this film.
My one problem with this film is that they could have sped the first half up a bit.
