Review of Moneyball (2011) by Stephen E — 27 Dec 2012
"Moneyball" isn't so much a baseball movie as it is a movie about baseball. It deals with the behind-the-scenes workings of the sport instead of the actual sport itself, which is personally much more interesting to watch.
Brad Pitt is invigorating in an understated performance and Jonah Hill does surprisingly well, pulling through with some good comic relief. Bennett Miller's humbled direction and the smart, statistical script of Steve Zallian and Aaron Sorkin make this story of one man overcoming the odds a touching, impressive effort.
