Review of Moneyball (2011) by Darrell T — 21 May 2013
A fabulous movie about the small market Oakland A's competing with the big market teams and succeeding...Brad Pitt is wonderful as Billy Beane, the A's innovative GM, who bypasses 120 years of baseball knowledge to try something different.
.."there's the rich teams, then the poor teams, then there's 50 feet of crap, then there's us"...it's filled with great performances throughout, including Jonah Hill, nominated for an Academy Award as a Supporting Actor.
..it's a bittersweet movie, because being an A's fan, I lived through the real life times that are depicted on screen. Beane's vision hasn't brought a Workd Series to Oakland (yet), but it has been adopted in part or wholly, by all other MLB teams that have won championships using his ideas.
..it's a feel good movie throughout. One of the best movies of 2011 & of the 21at century...an instant classic.
