Review of Moneyball (2011) by Timothy D — 30 Jun 2013
A solid baseball flick, this time showing the action behind the field, not just on it. From that perspective it was very enjoyable. However, some of the direction decisions did stretch unnecessarily. (I'm thinking mainly "The Streak" portion.
) Another movie "based on true events" that could easily have stuck to the true events and made a better story than the one told with the alterations. Pitt was very likable in the role as was Hill, though I think the Academy Award nomination was a bit of a stretch.
It's hard to be a baseball fan and not enjoy the telling of a ("Hollywoodized") story that changed how baseball is viewed.
