Review of Moneyball (2011) by Mloy X — 01 Dec 2013
Billy Beane (Brad Pitt): Would you rather get one shot in the head or five in the chest and bleed to death?
Peter Brand (Jonah Hill): Are those my only two options?
I am not a huge fan of Brad Pitt nor Jonah Hill, so I didn't try to really go out my way to watch it but it got good reviews when it was in theatres; so when it was on the tube, I figured I'd check it out. Why not? To Mr. Pitt's credit (which I'm sure he's well aware), he did a good job in this movie; and like I said before, I'm not a fan of him personally but to be honest I can't recall a movie role he's done, that I've seen, in which he didn't a good job. He's a good actor, I give him that. Jonah Hill did an equally good job, his character in this one is a bit more low key; but as good as his performance was, I seriously question the validity of him garnering the Oscar nomination. I'm sorry but his performance was good but not Oscar-worthy. The story was interesting as well and I like the fact that the writer(s) resisted the temptation to make the ending Disney-esque. For a sports-theme movie it's not bad; overall, it's a really good movie.
