Review of Moneyball (2011) by Alan M S — 17 Apr 2013
Has to be the best baseball movie in recent memory, if not the most nerd-friendly one of all time. Moneyball creates real human drama out of America's past time, thanks to an excellent script (co-written by ever-greats Zallian and Sorkin) that even non-sports fans will find themselves every bit satisfied with.
The film's cast is strong too, with Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt showing off their acting chops, even if Philip Seymour Hoffman feels a bit underused. It's a little too long, and don't expect a repeat of the Social Network, but Moneyball is exactly the type of intelligent sports movie that people have been waiting for.
