Review of Mona Lisa Smile (2003) by Jennifer H — 11 Apr 2009
A great portrayal of women in the 1950's. Like many in the audience, I despised Kirsten's character. If you didn't then you're inhuman. I loved Julia's character. She was the girl who had some sense all throughout the movie.
As much as I loved the story and each character, I didn't think that this movie was Oscar worthy. I remember it being up for some awards. There are no awards for it. In my high school mind (so my opinion is up for debate) I could see myself playing any character. Meaning, it must have not been that hard for each girl to be portrayed. Meaning the movie was easy to bring about and did not require a lot of Oscar worthy study of character. That's just my opinion.
